Another season of NY Fashion Week is now wrapped up. While we have to wait until the fall to see any of the fashions at stores, there were some beauty trends that we can start wearing right away. Here is the roundup of the top 4 new runway trends to try now.
the extreme side part
The extreme side part that was at BCBG Max Azria (left via Inspiration Color) and Rodarte (right via Style.com) is an easy way to change up your look. Use a flat iron and hairspray in the front to prevent it from falling in your face, then tuck the hair behind your ear or use a clip to secure it. You can always pull your hair into my favorite side ponytail to balance the look.
minimalist rosy makeup
The minimalist makeup look was all over the runways. Minimalist makeup is a great spring to summer look and the touch of rose at the Diane Von Furstenberg (via Style.com) and Proenza Schouler (via Style.com) shows brighten up the face. To get a similar look, apply just a touch of rose eyeshadow and lipstick or lip gloss and you’re set.
Bold eyeliner is really always in style. There were a few different takes on the runways with a double cat eye at rag & bone (via Style.com) and a heavy liner with a broken lower line at Rebecca Taylor (via Marie Claire). For a more wearable evening look, try a subtle cat eye. Acing the cat eye can be a bit difficult. One of these days I will put up a tutorial, but in the meantime check out Elle’s cat eye tips. For something similar to the Rebecca Taylor look, try my minimalist eye tutorial and finish the look by thickening the eyeliner on the outer corners.
For easy application, try MAC ‘Penultimate’ eye liner in Rapidblack
I admit that I’m somewhat simplistic with my nails. I have opted out of a lot of the subtle ombre nail art, but I love the new take on French tips with the gold tips at Suno (via Harpers Bazaar). This bolder take on ombre (or two tone) nails at Nicole Miller (via Harpers Bazaar) also sparked my interest.
For a similar gold color, use Bobbi Brown limited edition ‘Old Hollywood’ nail polish in solid gold
To get the two tone look, use butter LONDON nail lacquer in Knees Up and Union Jack Black
